fantasybuddha: Kudos to Michael Pineda for getting New York Yankees camp early, but be very cautious with him in 2012. Expect a solid uptick in wins because it is the Yanks, but don’t be shocked to see an elevation in his ERA and WHIP numbers due to the ballpark effect and the fact that he’ll be pitching in the always tough American League East. Pineda’s primary fantasy value lies in the fact that he has a live arm and is still a young kid with the ability to miss bats. Strikeout pitchers are always heavily valued on draft day, Michael Pineda won’t be any different this spring. Agreed with @FantasyBuddha. The worst team in the AL East (Baltimore) still has an excellent lineup. Michael Pineda should have higher everything (IP, W, K, ERA, WHIP) in 2012.
